President & CEO
Jim Litterer, president and CEO, took on his current role at Vital in October 2015. As president, he presides over all operations within Vital. Prior to his current position, Mr. Litterer served as vice president of operations where he was responsible for global sales operations, all aspects of customer services and information technology. Since joining the company in May 2002, he has held several roles, including field implementation engineer, customer support manager, director of customer support and senior director of services. Prior to his employment at Vital, he helped build global customer support operations as a services operations analyst at Stellent, Inc. Mr. Litterer received his Bachelor of Science in management and information systems from Iowa State University.
Chief Financial Officer
Ryan Thorvilson, chief financial officer, joined Vital in March 2006 as the senior manager of financial reporting. Since that time, he has held positions of increasing responsibility, including director of finance and accounting and vice president of finance, accounting and human resources. Prior to joining Vital, he was the controller at Optical Solutions and a senior associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Thorvilson holds a Master of Accountancy and Bachelor of Business Administration, accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Chief Technology Officer
Rick Stroobosscher, chief technology officer, works alongside product management and product architects to set the strategic technology direction for the company. Prior to serving as the CTO for Vital, Rick founded Karos Health, where Rick and his team were focused on delivering products that enabled collaboration between healthcare providers. He also held the role of CTO for Mitra Imaging, where he was one was one of the primary architects developing solutions for archiving and distribution of image data, as well as integration of image and information systems. Rick is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, where he earned his Master of Mathematics degree in Computer Science.
Vice President & CSIO Enterprise Applications
Larry Sitka, vice president and CSIO enterprise applications, is a recognized global subject matter expert in HIT (healthcare IT) interoperability. Larry was one of the early visionaries who recognized the potential of a highly interconnected HIT network. He was a direct contributor to the Office of the National Coordinator’s (ONC) interoperability roadmap for healthcare. Mr. Sitka has 30 years of experience in medical imaging. He holds several U.S. and E.U. patents focused on digital asset management across healthcare, printing and publishing, defense mapping and photographic businesses. His commercial endeavors include his current position at Vital Images and the founder of Acuo Technologies in 1999. Larry is an outspoken evangelist for the Learning Health System transformation proposed by the ONC. Larry holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and a Master’s of Computer Science with Systems and Software Engineering areas of focus from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and National Technology University.
General Manager, HII & Executive Vice President, International
Stephen (Steve) Andersen, general manager HII & executive vice president (EVP), International, joined Vital in May 1999. As general manager, HII, Mr. Andersen directs the HII team in Japan and provides an overall product strategy. As the EVP of International, he manages all aspects of Vital’s businesses outside of North America, including driving business growth through Vital’s international teams and channel partners. He has held the role of vice president in the following disciplines: strategic partnerships, sales operations, engineering, European sales, quality/regulatory and customer support. Prior to joining Vital, he was program manager and business development manager for Internet technologies at LodgeNet Entertainment and held technical support positions in the banking and telecommunications industries at Precision Computer Systems and Martin & Associates. Mr. Andersen holds a Bachelor of Arts from Augustana College in South Dakota.
Dr. Masakazu Osada
Vice President, Modality Attached Business
Dr. Masakazu Osada, vice president Modality Attached Business, acts as the strategic interface among Vital’s marketing, R&D, sales, service, quality systems/regulatory affairs and their corresponding departments within modality business units at Toshiba Medical Systems Corporation. He has many years of experience at Toshiba, serving most recently as the chief specialist and product manager in the Healthcare Imaging Informatics Division. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in information science from Tokyo Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in engineering from Kyushu University. Dr. Osada also completed the Executive Program for Strategy and Organization from Stanford Business School and is a graduate of the Toshiba Business School, the executive program for Toshiba senior management.
Vice President, Sales North America
Jason Huddleston, vice president Sales North America, has held the roles of central zone sales manager, director of sales and senior director of sales since joining Vital in 2003. He works directly with Vital customers throughout the United States and Canada. Prior to joining Vital, he held a variety of positions within the healthcare arena, including managing regional business for computed tomography. Mr. Huddleston has earned multiple sales awards at Vital. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from DePauw University and an M.B.A. from Baker University.
Vice President, Services
Russ Nettle, vice president Services, took on his most recent role at Vital in April 2014. He presides over all services within Vital, including professional services, service account management and customer support. Mr. Nettle joined the company in 2003 and has held roles of customer support manager, director of service account management and director of professional services. Prior to his employment at Vital and receiving his Series 6 and 63 licenses and MSCE certification, he held a variety of positions within IT, enterprise applications and finance. Mr. Nettle received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota.
Vice President, Engineering
Tim Dawson, vice president Engineering, joined Vital in June 2010. He is responsible for enterprise product development and technology vision, as well as architecture roadmap and alignment for all product lines. Mr. Dawson’s previous roles at Vital included chief architect and senior director of engineering. He has over 20 years of experience developing enterprise software and contributing to industry standards. Prior to joining Vital, he held senior technical roles at enterprise software companies in the financial services and retail industries. Mr. Dawson received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Iowa.
