The vendor-neutral archive (VNA) was originally a response to the prodigious storage requirements of picture archiving and communication systems (PACSs), the cost and complexity of PACS migration, and the need to have a patient-centric view of all medical images in the enterprise.
The VNA value proposition embraces standards-based image intake, access and sharing, electronic health record (EHR) and workflow integration, universal viewing and advanced visualization, AI, and analytics.
The VNA’s inherently modular capabilities enable the recomposition, rather than the deconstruction, of the departmental PACS, and will form the foundation for healthcare providers’ enterprise imaging and collaboration strategies.
