End-of-Life Notice

Microsoft announced that the Internet Explorer version 11 desktop application (IE) will be retired and go out of support on June 15, 2022, for certain versions of Windows 10.

Check with your IT department on how they plan to manage the end-of-life process of IE at your facility. This may include the removal of the IE application from your computer systems. Removal of IE from your computer system may significantly impact the performance of your Vitrea system.

What is happening with Internet Explorer (IE) version 11?

Microsoft announced that they would be putting IE 11 through end of life (EOL) on June 15, 2022. This deprecation may have impacts on many applications which have a dependency on IE 11 across the entire medical care facility.

How does this affect Vitrea Advanced Visualization (AV)?

All deployments of Vitrea Advanced Visualization versions 7.12 and below (including the 6.x versions) have a dependency on IE 11 in order to function correctly. Vitrea AV is compatible with Microsoft Edge with IE mode only when following specific configuration instructions provided by Microsoft. Please refer to the information in the links below.

What specific versions of Vitrea AV are affected?

Version Impact Recommended Action
Vitrea 7.14 or newer (non-PACS integrated) Not impacted No action needed
Vitrea 7.14 and newer with Vitrea Conduit / PACS integrations May lose some functionality Engage with your IT department and consider installing the browser requirement for the client and Vitrea AV can work with any of the following browsers:

  • Internet Explorer version 11
  • Edge Chromium Edition
  • Chrome
Vitrea 7.11 or 7.12 May lose functionality with Report Functionality:

  • The report page – access to Vitrea reporting will not launch if IE 11 is removed. Users can still export results and snapshots from the Study List or Results Tab and use a different reporting module.
  • Contextual Help for Colon and Liver – in-application help for these applications will not function. Users can still access the Help Page and navigate to the application help.
